The Night
Insomnia ate me.
Second after second.
Minute after minute.
Hour after hour.
Night was keeping me awake.
I sunk heavily into my thoughts.
It was unable to resist me.
And I could not resist it.
So we just lingered there –
side by side, the night and I.
Until one of us said goodbye.

I love this poem. It’s overt simplicity speaks at once to the soul and to everyday experience. I like the way you personify the night.
Thank you very much Carmelinda! I sometimes have trouble sleeping and one of these times, the poise of the night, and a feeling of drifting in bed led me to write this (ad hoc).
Hey Marek! I enjoy the metaphor; it’s very unique and powerful! Keep up the good work with your pleasant poetry 😉
