The Leaf
Carried away like a shrivelled leaf on a damp street at night,
Amidst the sewers and lonely sidewalks,
An empty wind blows courageously,
Then settles down, the whistles stop,
Silence lurks around the corner,
Withdrawn raindrops fall next to my ear,
A shiver of fright is felt nearby,
Gliding autonomously towards the gap,
In which one evaporates, gently held back,
Cautiously awaiting an awakening,
A re-entry upon the ground,
To the existing invisible crowd.
